Ayla

Ayla is an Aspect and was one of two angels beloved by Aeon and granted apotheosis. She appears as a female Lumina with six black wings clad in a purple dress, silver jewelry, and wielding a bow.

Ayla watches over the realms during the night and became increasingly popular as more people began the practice of spilling their hopes, dreams, and anxieties to her before bed. Ayla is often invoked along with her counterpart, Yair, during weddings to represent the emotional aspect of marriage. It is said that Ayla employs Baku to eat the nightmares of children.

Aeon created the first Aspects by imbuing his favorite attendants with the powers of the divine. Yair and Ayla were two angels tasked with directly assisting Aeon. As the two continuously proved themselves to be exceptional and dependable, Aeon granted each the choice to ascend to godhood to further increase their capacity to assist him in his duties. Yair was given dominion over the sun and the day while Ayla the moon and night.

Common worship practices include making offerings at midnight when the moon is at its peak but rites vary depending on whether the night is a full moon or a new moon.

Ayla is the goddess of the Moon and the Night; however, over time, her dominion grew to include Secrets, Dreams, and Love as well.

Epithets

Ayla is often addressed as the Night Maiden, Secret keeper, and Dream Shaper. Her symbols include the Moon, the Primrose, and a half-sun and half-moon motif.

Zira

During the cradle, the village of Zira erected a lavish temple to Ayla. It was at this temple that Atreyu slaid the Mara and Ōmukade.

Unfortunately, despite its cultural significance, during the Schism, too much tragedy befell Zira and the temple was abandoned and lost to time.
